

It is slightly more expensive than most run-of-the mill CAC readers, but with an actual dedicated Type-C USB connection, we don’t mind paying a slightly higher premium. And it can handle transactions quickly and efficiently at speeds up to 600 kbps. The reader also meets full compliance with all industry standards such as ISO/IEC 7816, PC/SC, and USB CCID. It does support all major smart card platforms, and that’s really nice to see.

With Apple’s Lightning connectors, it’s more trouble than it’s worth to provide an adapter. We’re Apple users over here at HomeCACUse and would have loved for this to be compatible with our phones.
